Hiking from Kazbegi to Khevsureti

Tour Itinerary

Juta to Roshka trek connects Kazbeki region with the remote region of Khevsureti. The highlights of this hike are the sharp peaks of the Chaukhi massif, the stunning views from the top of the pass and the amazing Abudelauri Lakes. The route category – Medium

Day 1: Arrival to Tbilisi

Arrival to Tbilisi International Airport. Meeting with driver, transfer to the hotel without guide. Night stay in Tbilisi.

Day 2: Walking Tbilisi City Tour (10 km)

Breakfast in the hotel. 10:00 Meeting with guide. The old Tbilisi walking tour is the perfect thing to do to feel the beauty of this magnificent town. During this tour, you will walk through the old town’s tiny streets. You’ll have a chance to discover secrets behind colorful streets and hear beautiful legends and stories.
Firstly, Tour starts with walking from Rike park and Peace Bridge. Secondly, we move to Sulphur Baths, known as the city’s heart. Then we will walk through Meidan Bazar – is right underneath the Meidan square, the heart of touristic centre of Tbilisi. In this underground tunnel – shop all products of typical touristic interest are assembled. Everything is Made in Georgia here: from wine to hand crafted socks, from postcards to Georgian jams, sauces, spices and tea. Free time for lunch
The next stop we will have at the Georgian national museum, where impressive galleries are lined with the art and artifacts of this diverse nation, dating back to the 8th millennium BC/or ethnographic museum– It occupies 65 hectares of land. There are 70 samples of various purpose traditional buildings in the museum. The museum is one of the most unique museums in Georgia: you can physically “visit” almost the regions of Georgia.
After transfer to the hotel, free time.
Evening dinner in a Georgian restaurant, where you will taste delicious Georgian foods and enjoy watching Georgian national dances.

Day 3: Tbilisi-Ananuri-Gudauri-Kazbegi (150 km)

Breakfast in the hotel. Check out. 09:00 Meeting with the guide at the hotel lobby.
Drive to Kazbegi. Our tour starts with Historical Ananuri. It is a fortress situated on the foreland by the Aragvi River, not far from Zhinvali water reservoir and about 70 km from Tbilisi. Ananuri Fortress is known for its fabulous panoramic views. Our amazing tour guide will tell you details of the diverse history of Ananuri.
After that you will see Gudauri – the ski resort is located on the south-facing plateau of The Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia. The resort offers high-quality skiing opportunities. The slopes of Gudauri are above the tree line, best for free riders, and are considered avalanche-safe. Generally, the ski season lasts from December to April. Free time for lunch.
Proceed your drive to see Monument or Treaty (of Georgievsk Monument) is a monument built in 1983 to celebrate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and the ongoing friendship between Georgia and Soviet Russia. This trip will be an excellent place for Insta and Snapchat-worthy pictures and selfies and, of course, for trendy reels. In addition, you can enjoy mesmerizing panoramic views and collect unforgettable memories to remember.
Hiking to Gergeti Trinity Church is the main attraction of the Kazbegi tour. The church is located u 2170m above Stepantsminda (former Kazbegi) town and the village of Gergeti, whose name she had adopted. A mix of green surrounds Gergeti and white mountains and hills, and dear visitors, believe us, this place is jaw dropping in its beauty. Night Stay in Kazbegi. (B/-/D)

Day 4: Kazbegi-Juta (25 km), hiking 5 km

Breakfast in the hotel. Check out. Drive by 4*4 vehicle to the village Juta. Easy hiking to Jaukhi pass (hiking duration 4 hours). Time for lunch.
Chaukhi pass – Abudelauri lakes (5 km)
Chaukhi pass is compelling due to proximity of imposing Chaukhi massif with its seven sharp peaks and necessity to scale 3341 meters high Chaukhi pass. At the other side of the pass, you will find meadows with intriguing rock formations (Roshka stones).
End of trek near Abudelauri lakes. Magical, mysterious place, home of Khevsuretian Gods, with a view to a spectacular Chaukhi Mountain. Lots of legends and myths are connected to these lakes. The Abudelauri lakes are of transitive colors: one is green, the second is blue and the last one is white like milk due to glacier from where the white lake newborn river starts. Overnight in tents near Blue lake. (B/-/-)

Day 5: Blue lake-White lake-Roshka Village-Tbilisi

From Blue lake hiking to White lake. it is located at an altitude of 2812 m above sea level, covers an area of 0.035 km and reaches a depth of 3.8 m.
and after trek to Roshka village (duration 2-3 hours 7 km), transfer to Tbilisi. Accommodation at the hotel. Free evening. (B/-/-)

Day 6: Tbilisi-Uplistsikhe-Mtskheta-Tbilisi (300 km)

Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to cave city Uplitsikhe – an antique rock-hewn town in eastern Georgia. It contains multiple structures dating from the Early Iron Age to the Late Middle Ages. After exploring Uplistsikhe, you have a chance to have lunch in the region and try delicious local food. (Extra fee 15 USD PP)
After lunch drive back to Tbilisi. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta. UNESCO recognizes Mtskheta as a World Heritage site due to its historical significance and several cultural monuments.
The last stop is Jvari Monastery. The name of this monastery is translated as the “Monastery of the Cross.” Jvari Monastery is the 6th-century Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta. Arrival to Tbilisi, transfer to the hotel. (B/-/-)

Day 7: Departure

Breakfast in the hotel, check out, meeting with your driver at the lobby of the hotel and transfer to the Tbilisi international airport. Departure.
